603 Packet-Too-Big

The default MTU size accepted by Brekeke SIP Server is 1500 byte.
When packets size is over the default MTU size, Brekeke SIP Server will reject call with 603 and the Result of the call in [Logs] will show “Packet Too Big”

SIP packet sent over UDP must follow this size limitation.

Solutions:

  • Reduce client SIP packet size
  • Use TCP instead of UDP
  • Tune the MTU size from Brekeke SIP Server side

    – From v3.3, with field [Check Maximum UDP packet size] setting, you can disable checking maximum UDP packet size from Brekeke SIP Server admintool > [Configuration] > [SIP] page.

    – For v3.1, change [Maximum UDP packet size] setting from Brekeke SIP Server Admintool
    save the setting and restart Brekeke SIP Server from Admintool

    – For earlier version, from Brekeke SIP Server Admintool > [Configuration]->[Advanced] page, set
    For example:
    net.sip.mtu.size = 2000
    save the setting and restart Brekeke SIP Server from Admintool
